Ruby v0.90.2

Ruby v0.90.2 is a program will scan the users CDRs and then catalog and save the file properties (name, directory, attributes, size, and date) and the disc properties (serial#, file system, volume label, # of files, and user chosen description) onto a database.
The user can then run a search for a particular file in the database rather than browse manually through all of the CDRs. Will also work with floppies, zip disks, and any other storage media. Version 0.90.2 has list viewer, PDF export, MD5 checksums, support for files larger than 2.1GB, and database merging.
Managing extensive media collections is a bit easier with Ruby, but disabled features and uninspired functionality keep the program from being a true gem. After a relatively speedy scan of the discs in your music and movie library, you will be able to explore and search them anytime without inserting them. On the plus side, Ruby can view archives as well as generate CD covers based on disc contents, though you can't access the latter feature until you register.
Descriptions only can be automatically generated for MP3 files, however. The interface could be more straightforward and attractive, though you can at least change the overall color scheme. We were disappointed to find so many advanced features disabled in this download. Ruby will probably be most useful for collections weighted toward MP3s.
Operating system: Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP/NT
